Summary

This course is designed to equip you with the tools to bring people together through a successful event. You’ll learn about different types of events and role players in events and how to decide on elements for the event. You’ll gain financial skills to determine and manage an event budget, learn how to define marketing objectives and execute effective marketing techniques and, finally, you’ll have the know-how to formulate a workable contingency plan and execute the event planning schedule, operational and logistics plan.

Subject Matter Expert

Thea Steyn has been involved in vocational training for over 20 years. Thea has facilitated learning in Events, entrepreneurship, business communications, business correspondence, tourism, legal practice, business ethics and hospitality. She has also developed learning material and assessment instruments for more than 40 learning programmes, skills programmes and short courses. In addition to her training and facilitation experience, Thea has been involved in the planning and execution of a variety of events, including graduation ceremonies, church and community festivals, sport days, press/media receptions, gala awards, and more.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
To successfully access and complete this course, you will be required to have a registered email account, access to a computer/laptop/tablet and stable internet connection. You will be required to be familiar with using a computer as you may need to be able to read and download documents in Adobe PDF Reader, view Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, and read and create documents in Microsoft Word.

You will be required to complete a series of assessments that will be facilitated through our virtual learning environment. Your course handbook will be made available to you once you have commenced with your short learning programme.
